Precision Tracking, Simplified

WOWRFID’s BLE-based people tracking system is engineered for accuracy, scalability, and operational intelligence. Designed to meet the needs of high-traffic, high-risk, and high-performance environments, it delivers real-time visibility of staff, visitors, or patients—securely and without disruption.

This page breaks down how the system works, from the hardware components to the cloud analytics layer, and shows how Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is used to track people movement across zones, floors, or entire campuses.

Overview – The WOWRFID BLE Architecture

The WOWRFID BLE people visibility solution consists of four key layers:

  1. Wearable Tags or Badges
  1. BLE Anchors and Readers (Access Nodes)
  1. Edge Gateways
  1. Cloud Dashboard & Analytics Platform

Together, these layers form a closed-loop, low-latency system that continuously tracks location data with high reliability and minimal power usage.

Hardware Components

1. BLE Wearable Tags

  • Assigned to each individual—staff, visitor, patient, or contractor
  • Form factors: wristbands, ID badges, helmet tags
  • Lightweight, rechargeable or replaceable batteries
  • Range: 10–30 meters depending on use case
  • Can be linked to user roles, departments, or access zones

Use Case: A hospital nurse wears a BLE badge configured for ICU access. If she enters a pharmacy zone (unauthorized), an alert is triggered.

2. BLE Anchors (Access Nodes)

  • Installed throughout the facility (e.g., room entrances, corridors, stairwells)
  • Constantly listen for BLE tag signals
  • Log time stamps, direction, signal strength
  • Indoor location accuracy up to 1–3 meters
  • Can be battery-powered or PoE-enabled

Use Case: In a manufacturing plant, BLE anchors detect when a worker enters a hazardous area without authorization and notify the floor supervisor.

3. Edge Gateways

  • Collect data from BLE anchors in real time
  • Pre-process location data for performance
  • Encrypt and forward data to the cloud dashboard
  • Work on local Wi-Fi, LTE, or wired networks
  • Can function independently in case of cloud disconnect

Use Case: A gateway installed on each floor ensures that even during internet outages, tracking continues locally and syncs when back online.

4. Cloud Dashboard & Analytics

  • Displays real-time people location, zone occupancy, and alerts
  • Supports multiple user roles (Admin, Security, HR, HSE, IT)
  • Generates compliance logs and heatmaps
  • Integrates with access control, HRMS, fire alarm systems
  • Accessible via web browser and mobile apps

Use Case: An HSE officer views a live dashboard showing who is in a restricted chemical storage zone during an evacuation drill.

Key Functional Capabilities

Real-Time People Visibility

  • Know exactly who is present in each zone, department, or floor
  • Set up visual floor plans for intuitive tracking
  • See movement history and real-time routes

Live Alerting System

  • Trigger alerts based on:
  • Unauthorized zone entry
  • Extended dwell time
  • No movement detected for predefined durations
  • Send alerts to mobile, email, or centralized monitoring systems

Evacuation & Muster Tracking

  • Automatically track who exited during fire drills or real incidents
  • Compare headcounts to real-time data
  • Reconcile “last known location” for missing persons

People Flow & Heatmap Analytics

  • Visualize crowd movement over time
  • Identify choke points, unused spaces, and movement trends
  • Optimize layout or shift planning based on foot traffic

FAQs

1: How does WOWRFID’s BLE system track people indoors?

BLE tags worn by people transmit signals to nearby access nodes, which are picked up, logged, and relayed to a cloud dashboard for live location monitoring.

2: How accurate is the location tracking?

Indoor location accuracy typically ranges between 1–3 meters, depending on the facility design and anchor placement.

3: Does the system work during network outages?

Yes. Edge gateways store data locally and sync to the cloud once the connection is restored.

4: Is it possible to track visitors and contractors temporarily?

Absolutely. Temporary BLE tags can be assigned during entry and deactivated after the visit.

5: How is personal data protected?

WOWRFID uses encrypted, role-based dashboards and anonymized tracking for privacy compliance. No personal content (voice, video, etc.) is recorded.
